Providing perspective and forming new habits to find answers.

Do you ever feel like balance and happiness are out of reach amid life’s turmoil? Does your mind seem to “run off” without warning? Do you find yourself struggling—or even unable—to take back control?

The pressure of today’s world can be overwhelming, and there are countless reasons you might not feel quite “right.” I use specific techniques and a supportive therapeutic style to help address these challenges and guide you back to discovering what “right” means for you.

Life already presents plenty of obstacles and opportunities for difficult emotions. Instead of adding to the chaos, therapy can create space to make things better.

No matter your circumstances, it’s natural to feel confusion and self-doubt when facing life’s challenges on your own. I aim to offer a neutral perspective—one that is free of judgment and the emotions that can complicate personal reflection. You are the expert on your life; sometimes what’s needed is simply validation and an outside perspective.

I encourage you to schedule a consultation call. Talking with someone about what you’re facing may be the solution—or it may lead you to it. With the right tools, the process not only becomes easier but can even feel rewarding.

MODALITIES

  • DBT is a type of talk therapy that focuses on mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.

  • CBT focuses on reframing negative thought patterns and changing behaviors to improve mental health.

  • Motivational interviewing is a collaborative type of conversation that helps people find their own motivation to make positive changes in their lives. It utilizes listening, understanding, and encouragement for self-driven decisions that lead to improvement.

  • Therapeutic mindfulness helps guide individuals to actively engage in present experiences, allowing them to observe thoughts and feelings without attachment or judgment. o   Being mindful of your thoughts allows you to recognize thought patterns, logical fallacies, and also apply techniques introduced and practiced in sessions.

Sessions with me are…

Productive…

Our focus will stay on the primary issues you want to address, while also making space for whatever comes up along the way—because sometimes those things are connected. I never want you to leave a session feeling like it was a waste of time. My goal is to strike the right balance between acceptance and making desired changes. As you commit to working toward change, you can expect the same commitment from me.

My background

I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (2012) and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Some of my previous work includes team-based mental health services with both community-based and inpatient mental health providers. I’ve also served as a social worker and case manager for jail inmates. Most of my work in the mental health field has taken place in and around Madison.

In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, friends, and my dogs. I try to keep active with gardening, hiking and camping, playing basketball, woodworking, house renovations, and riding my motorcycle.
